Car Crashes into Day Care Injuring Three Children and Driver

Two vehicles smashed into a day care center in Kansas City early Tuesday afternoon. The accident injured three children and the driver. As a result, two of the children were pinned under a vehicle. The crash first occurred after 12 PM at a Christian day care center on East 27th Street.

The cause of the collision is still trying to be determined. Apparently, the driver of a black Range Rover hit a parked Cadillac causing the Cadillac to crash into the building. Fortunately, a nearby police officer and several people nearby helped one child who was pinned under the vehicle. Shortly after, firefighters arrived to use the Jaws of Life to help rescue a second child that was trapped.

At the time of the accident, there were 40 children inside the day care. Many of the children appeared to be distraught and were crying. Three of the children were taken to a nearby hospital along with the driver. The driver of the Range Rover appeared to be an 80 year-old male. Luckily, the injuries of the children are not life-threatening.

Causes of Car Accidents

Surprisingly, major accidents involving property damage like the one described above occur commonly. Often times, drivers who are not paying attention to the road will accidentally crash into a building. As a result, unsuspecting individuals in the building will become injured due the vehicle’s impact.

Others may become injured due to flying objects, glass, and other hazards caused by the vehicle. One of the worst instances is when a person is trapped underneath the vehicle. The weight of the vehicle can literally crush the internal organs of a pedestrian causing severe internal bleeding and injuries.
