Four People Die After Rollover Crash

A rollover crash on Monday has left four people dead. The accident occurred in Guntersville, Alabama around 2 PM. Of the deceased are an 18 year-old male, a 21 year-old male, an 18 year-old male, and a 13 year-old girl. At the time, the 19 year-old was driving a pickup truck that was carrying more than 10 children.

Unfortunately, the pickup truck was traveling on highway 431 when it flipped over. The children fell from the truck as it flipped and the truck caught ablaze immediately. All of the occupants seated in the truck’s bed were ejected.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated. The children were headed for an afternoon swim and were all wearing their swimwear. In recent years, lawmakers have been struggling to pass a law that would prohibit children from riding in the back of a pickup truck. Currently, Alabama and 18 other states still allow children to ride in the bed of a pickup truck.

Common Injuries of Rollover Crashes

Rollover accidents are extremely dangerous and can occur for a number of reasons. One of the most common reasons is human error; for instance, if a driver of one vehicle is tired or driving while under the influence. If a large vehicle swerves or makes an abrupt movement to dodge another vehicle, the large vehicle can roll over. Larger vehicles tend to have a lower center of gravity making it more possible for them to roll over.

Rollover accidents can also occur if there is a vehicle malfunction. For example, if the tire is defective and suddenly blows out it can cause a large vehicle to roll over.  Rollover accidents can also occur if there is a defect or hazard in the road.
